What I Tried: The Mongolian Cashmere Crewneck Sweater, Quince’s hero product. This is the viral sweater advertised on every millennial-focused podcast. Sizes XS–XL cost $50, sizes 1X-3X cost $59.90. It comes in a wide variety of colors. I own “Black” and “True Navy.”

Why It Works: I bought these sweaters one year ago. I love the thinner, more fitted shape compared to a traditional sweater. They are my favorite for travel because they compress so small. I also find that the color remains vibrant and doesn’t fade, even after hand washing.

Editor’s note: Cashmere should NEVER be washed in a washing machine or dried in a dryer.

Why It Doesn’t: These sweaters pill very easily, requiring me to use my cashmere comb to depill them twice as often as my other cashmere sweaters.

I’ve also noticed that the sizing varies between colors. My navy sweater is about half a size larger than my black sweater. If you’re at the top end of the size chart, this sweater might not fit you.

Worth It? Yes, if you are willing to put effort into maintaining your clothes (no wash-and-wear here!) and you fit into their limited size range.

Rating: .5/5

Try This Instead: If you’re looking for a chunkier sweater, consider the Mongolian Cashmere Fisherman Crewneck Sweater, priced at $99.90 at Quince.

For a more upscale option, the Cropped Crewneck Sweater in Cashmere is available at Theory for $365.
